Educator Externship Program
The Educator Externship program allows teachers and counselors to gain real world experience in the construction and energy industries. Participants spend 40 hours at work with a host company during the summer, and then develop a lesson plan or project based on their experience that they teach to their students during the Fall.
Counselors who participate are given tours of local post-secondary options for their students. The "externs" teach a wide range of subjects, from Agriculture to Geometry. In December, all participants, students, and host companies gather for a Show and Tell Reception. All educators receive a $2,000 stipend for their efforts.
